A few days before the news of his death surfaced, Mitte appeared on the Joe Vulpis Podcast, where he spoke about his teenage years in Breaking Bad. He said:
“The scriptwriters wrote my character, Walter White Jr., with someone with cerebral palsy in mind. This was from the beginning; that was always the case”. Walt Jr. really felt real playing and vibing with the character because it was based on a real person, a friend of the Breaking Bad creator during college days, who had cerebral palsy at that time and used forearm crutches, and who later passed away.
While speaking, he also acknowledged Craston and Anna Gunn, who played his parents on the series, for the great knowledge they had working in the industry for many years at the time and even more now. He recalled and stated how every episode of the show that he thought to be a dark, heavy show turns out to be a very light one.
